Dear Readers:
It gives us immense pleasure to bring you this new edition of e-Engage! We are at the half-way mark of 2019, already. Many sobering things are unfolding locally and globally – in politics, trade and finance, international relations, human right legislations, terror attacks, climate change, etc. The world has seen much already and the fleeting anaesthetics in the likes of Premier Leagues and World Cups, Marvel movies, Bollywood binges and Netflix nights are far from helpful.
It’s hard to miss the growing sense of anxiety and despair and a frantic look out for a ‘superhero-of-sorts’, a ‘Messiah’ if I may, to rescue and redeem us from ourselves. The breadth of this search across various spheres; Political, Social, Philosophical, Mystical, Technological and so on – among the Physical, Metaphysical; Human, Trans-human and everything in between, merely points to the depth of the void and the weight of the person required to fulfil it.
As we grapple with the happenings around us, this issue comes with relevant pieces that speak into the core issues that surround us. We have Dr. Fazale Rana with Reasons to Believe helping us understand the value and scope of Human Identity in the face of rapid strides towards Transhumanism. Mr. Tejdor’s timely piece on “Forgiveness” in the aftermath of the recent bombings in New Zealand and Sri Lanka and other attacks and atrocities elsewhere, brings much needed comfort and hope to our bleeding planet. Mr. Max Jeganathan’s perceptive take on the “Challenges of Affluence” exposes the culture of greed that we have wrought upon ourselves, and offers the most worthy of alternatives. The Q&A feature in this issue addresses a very pertinent and relevant political question that’s worth looking at and offers a very crucial and practical Scriptural response.
With other regular features like “World Watch” and “Resource Watch”, this edition that’s tastefully designed is a must read and a must share, a click on your keypads is all that it calls for.
May the contents of this issue point you and those in your circles of influence to the Messiah that we so easily seem to miss, as we strangely keep looking amiss!
Keep reading. Keep sharing!
Prayers,
Prayers,
Charles P Joseph
